Akiko Okumura is a contemporary artist/filmmaker with an expressive and socially conscious visual language.
Born in Japan, she moved to France at the age of 16. She completed her training at the Ecole Supérieure d'Art de Nord-Pas-de-Calais and obtained her Diploma (National Supérieur
d'Expression Plastique DNSEP) in 2011.
During her studies at Le Fresnoy National Studio of Contemporary Arts from 2014 to 2016, she developed her artistic practice.
Her works have been shown in Europe and the United States, at festivals such as Euroasia Shorts Film Festival, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, and Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival. She has received a creation grant for emerging artists from the Regional Council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais and a nomination for the "Talent contemporain" competition by the François Schneider Foundation.
