Akiko Okumura is a contemporary artist and filmmaker whose visual language is both expressive and socially engaged. Born in Japan, she moved to France at the age of 16. She studied at art school, where she received her diploma. She developed her artistic practice at Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains, where she discovered the language of cinema. After her time at Le Fresnoy, she continued her practice and directed short films, primarily fiction, often self-produced.
