In an art gallery, a young woman discovers a painting by an unknown artist depicting her own naked corpse—grotesque, yet beautifully rendered and displayed in an exhibition room.
As she tries to communicate with the visitors, no one seems to notice the strangeness of the situation.

I attempt to describe the discomfort I long refused to confront. This film explores the taboo surrounding racial issues and insidious violence—such as the appropriation of the racialized female body by the West.

One day, I realized that I had internalized an orientalist view of my own origins, something I was constantly confronted with, while refusing to admit that I was experiencing systemic violence.

This film, which may seem provocative, is my way of reversing the gaze. The “Asian woman” is objectified by the West; I am trying to invert the relationship between the observer and the observed.

Dans une galerie d’art, une jeune femme découvre un tableau dont l'auteur est inconnu, représentant son propre cadavre nu, grotesque mais joliment représenté dans une salle d'exposition.
Alors qu'elle tente de communiquer avec les visiteurs, personne ne semble remarquer l'étrangeté de la situation.

Je tends à décrire le malaise auquel je me suis longtemps défendue de faire face. Ce film explore le tabou autour des questions raciales et la violence insidieuse – tel que l’appropriation du corps féminin racisé par l’Occident.

Un jour, je me suis rendu compte que j’avais moi-même intériorisé une vision orientaliste de mes propres origines, à laquelle je faisais sans cesse face, tout en refusant d’admettre que je subissais de la violence systémique.

Ce film, qui peut sembler provocateur, est ma manière de renverser le regard. La « femme asiatique » est objectivée par l’Occident ; je tente d"inverser le rapport entre l’observateur et l’observé.

主人公の女性は、偶然見つけたあるギャラリーで、自分の顔が描かれている絵画を発見する。
作者は不明だが、その絵は、裸体で血を流す彼女の死体を描いている。
驚いた主人公は、ギャラリーの他の客の反応を求めるが、自分以外の誰も状況の異常さに気づかない。

この短編映画では、私が長年向き合うことを拒んできた不快感と暴力を描き出そうとしました。この作品は、人種に関する議論をめぐるタブーや、西洋による人種化された女性の身体の占有といった、見えにくい暴力を探求していいます。

ある時、私は自分自身のルーツに対して、西洋のオリエンタリズム的な見方を内面化した眼差しを向けていたことに気づきました。 そして、私は常にその事に直面しながら、自分が構造的暴力を受けていることを認めるのを拒んでいました。

この作品は挑発的に見えるかもしれませんが、私にとっては視点を覆すための試みです。「アジア人の女性」は西洋から客体化された存在ですが、「見る者」と「見られる物」の関係を逆転したいと思いました。
